HISTORY... The Colorado Belle Hotel & Casino was originally opened by Circus Circus Enterprises in July 1987. Located at the center of casino row on the banks of the Colorado River, the resort was built as a 600-foot long, six deck replica of a 19th century Mississippi paddle wheel riverboat. Ten years later in 1997, the Boiler Room Brewery & Restaurant became the first and only micro-brewery in Laughlin. The multi-million dollar expansion added about 5,000 square feet to the casino, and seating for 280. Since then, the brewery has had several brewers creating a variety of great beers. Currently the hotel has 1,168 rooms in two 7 story towers, 6 restaurants, 2 swimming pools and a private beach on the river. The casino has 65,000 sq ft of gaming space. In January 2011 the brewery was renamed "Pints" by the new management group.
BREWING SYSTEM... The brewery layout in the Boiler Room is very unique. Divided into two areas each enclosed behind large glass walls, the production area is located on the kitchen side and the storage tanks are on display across the room behind the bar. The main brew kettle and the mash tun are both copper clad, 17 barrel units, each with 527 gallons total capacity.
For fermenting there are three copper clad uni-tanks, each with a 17 barrel capacity for a total combined capacity of 1,581 gallons, and two 34 barrel uni-tanks equaling another 2,108 gallons.
The storage tanks are elevated on legs, in a magnificent display between the casino floor and the bar. These consist of four vertical 17 barrel serving tanks with the combined capacity of 2,108 gallons, and two horizontal 17 barrel serving tanks, adding an additional 1,054 gallons of liquid gold, amber & browns ready to enjoy...
ANNUAL PRODUCTION... - Batch Capacity 527 gallons, 17 barrels, 34 kegs per batch. - Monthly Capacity 12,911 gallons = 416 barrels = 833 kegs. - Annual Capacity 154,938 gallons = 4,998 barrels = 9,996 kegs! THE BREWERS... Brewmaster: Marshall Redmond was a US Navy plumber when he purchased his first (and only) home brewing kit. Within a few batches he realized he wanted to go bigger and eventually become a professional brewer. After completing his service, while living on his G.I. Bill and attending college studying business, he pusued his brewing education with the American Brewers Guild course work. Hands on experience for a year as an apprentice at the Sports City Brewery & Cafe in Lajolla, California, convinced him he was on the right path. After graduation he moved to Sante Fe and worked for the Blue Corn Cafe & Brewery as brewer asisstant for 18 months. In January 2005, the position as brewmaster at the award winning Boiler Room Brewery was offered - and accepted!
ATMOSPHERE... Located on the casino level of the resort, The Boiler Room looks like the engine room of an old ship. Large copper ducts and massive exposed beams form the ceiling elements. The walls of the room are detailed with many ship elements such as control panels with blinking buttons, hatches, valves, tanks, gages, steel pipes, brass rails and thousands of rivets creating an authentic nautical theme.
The glass-encased copper brewing and serving tanks are major focal points, as well as a great river view from the raised seating area of the massive space. Custom steel and copper tables and seats fill the interior offering a variety of dining style options. Featuring wood-fired ovens and open-pit mesquite grilling, the aromas of grilled food fill the room. The Brew Pub serves fantastic meals and snacks from an award-winning menu that compliments the rotating selection of many great craft brews.
The long granite bar with built in gaming also offers domestic and imported beer, fine wines, and a complete liquor selection ready for specialty drinks and dessert cocktails. Complete with a digital audio-visual satellite system, sports are usually featured on 22 viewing screens. There's an additional sound system and dance floor available for private parties that need a band. Fine cigars from "Gifts on Tap", the Boiler Room’s logo gift shop are always available, along with a wide variety of custom merchandise. BEERS ON TAP... Golden Ale is an old friend, a true American beauty. It's a classic pale ale, lightly hopped, subtle, clean, crisp, and refreshing. Light bodied, Golden Ale is a perfect companion on a hot Mohave Desert Day, or with a delicious meal. Malty, amber-colored, pleasantly robust and mildly hopped, Amber Ale was originally a European "Workin' Man's Beer." But, nineteenth-century Europeans, from the Aristocrat to the hod carrier alike, soon discovered that this slightly dry "Workin' Man's Beer" tastes great.
: This medium-bodied, mildly-hopped appetite awakener is a versatile beer. Lightly carbonated, stout has the delicate complex flavors of chocolate and coffee. It's excellent before dinner, or as a nightcap at the end of your day. This dry stout is served on nitrogen and isfor the serious beer drinker.
This one is for the "hop heads" out there, or for those just entering into the wonderful world of hops. Copper to light amber in color, medium body, and full of hop character. The aroma, the flavor, the bitterness will bring your senses to new heights. A delicious beer all on its own, or perfect side by side with a spicy meal.
