HISTORY... Founded in the late 1970s by two guys with a great deep dish pizza recipe, the first BJ’s Chicago Pizzeria was located in Santa Ana, California. Steady growth occurred along the coastline and in 1996, with seven restaurants from San Diego to Los Angeles, the first brewery was added in the new restaurant in Brea, California. A name change to BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery was quickly welcomed by local beer lovers, especially because of the many beer styles brewed in strict accordance to the "German Beer Purity Law." of 1556! Since then, the chain has opened across the USA and become a leading force in premium casual dining. Now BJ's has almost 100 locations, many with fantastic brewers brewing award-winning handcrafted beers... BREWING SYSTEM... Information coming soon! ANNUAL PRODUCTION... Information coming soon!
THE BREWERS... Brewmaster: Dan Pedersen - Information coming soon! ATMOSPHERE... All of BJ's locations are designed in a similar style, the upper entry level has a long bar and additional tall tables and seating. It's very spacious with lots of room for standing and mingling with the after work, happy hour crowds. Several large flat screen monitors and split screen systems provide many channels of sports and news. At least a dozen taps with a variety of house and guest beers are available, along with a full bar and wine selection displayed on the back brick wall. Mirrors, detailed wood and brass accents create an upscale feel.
The large lower level is divided into sections which provide several comfortable seating options. Large and small leather clad booths along the walls are very cozy. A variety of different size tables in the other areas can be easily moved for any group combination. Additionally, there is the option for a semi-private space to accommodate parties of up to 100 people. The space is tall and bright, with large windows providing natural daylight. A mix of fans and light fixtures hang from the ceiling which features the exposed structure. Some of the locations have outdoor tables with umbrellas, and all BJ's offer curbside service for phone or website orders to go... BEERS ON TAP... BJ'S BREWHOUSE BLONDE® - A light and refreshing pale beer in the style of a German Kolsch. The flavor is slightly malty with delicate hopping to balance. Brewed with 2-row Pale, Wheat and Vienna Malts then blended with Perle and Hallertau hops, this bottom fermented beer is well-conditioned for exceptional smoothness. (4.7% ABV / 15 IBU's) HARVEST HEFEWEIZEN® - Not just another wheat beer - our hefeweizen is fermented with authentic Bavarian weizen yeast to produce its unique flavor profile – fruity, spicy, and refreshing. Brewed with Wheat, 2-row Pale and Vienna malts, and blended with Perle and Hallertau hop varieties. Try it without a lemon! (4.9% ABV / 15 IBU's) PIRANHA® PALE ALE - A hoppy, American-style pale ale made with Yakima Valley’s best hops - bittered with Chinook, while dry-hopped with the snappy flavor of Cascade. Not just for hopheads only, the mash starts with 2-row Pale, Crystal and Wheat malts.(5.7% ABV / 45 IBU's) BJ’S JEREMIAH RED® - An Irish-style red ale with the full-bodied richness of an English old ale. Brewed with a secret blend of 2-row Pale, Munich, Belgian Crystal and Chocolate malts. Complimented with Northern Brewer hops in order to emphasize the complex malt flavor and fruity aroma. (7.3% ABV / 25 IBU's) BJ'S P.M. PORTER® - This nitrogen-conditioned dark ale is very smooth and drinkable. Caramel, molasses, and chocolate flavors fill the palate. Brewed with 2-row Pale, Dark Caramel, Chocolate and Black malts and blended with Perle and Willamette hops, its sweet start is perfectly balanced by a roasted dry finish. (6.4% ABV / 30 IBU's) TATONKA® STOUT - An Imperial Stout whos classic style is so rich and flavorful that it was once the private beverage of Russian Czars. Brewed with 2-row Pale, Chocolate, Black and Crystal Malts, roasted barley oats, brown sugar, molasses and Magnum and Centennial hops. The profile is malty sweet, hop bitter roasted, full-bodied, alcoholic, intense, and deliciously complex. (8.5% ABV / 60 IBU's) NUTTY BREWNETTE® - A unique American-style brown ale. A blend of four different dark malts - 2-row Pale, English Crystal, Briess Victory, Special Roast and Chocolate produces a flavor profile that is sweet with “nutty” notes. A healthy dose of Magnum, Willamette and UK Fuggles hops makes this beer hoppier and more balanced than most English brown ales. (5.9% ABV / 35 IBU's)
